Thank you to all the artists who joined us upstairs at The Ship and Mitre with lots of new faces and fun and interesting chat.
In this meeting we had just a few formal presentations planned, so we started by asking everyone to introduce themselves and say something about their work or interests. This seemed to go down well. If you came to the meeting and enjoyed that part (or didn’t!), please get in touch and let us know so we can decide whether to do it again.
Liverpool Artists’ Network – Josie gave a brief introduction to Liverpool Artists’ Network. LAN has made the decision to list on its website any visual art exhibitions and events that are happening alongside Liverpool Biennial which will be from 10 June – 17 September. This will just be basic listings and we will be in touch via the mailing list to let you know how to submit listings.
Art in Liverpool and Independents Biennial – Patrick from Art in Liverpool gave an introduction to Liverpool Independents Biennial which is currently led by Art in Liverpool. the Independents Biennial is a fringe festival that runs alongside Liverpool Biennial. Patrick is planning to put a programme together for Independents Biennial 2023. This is in the planning stages and more information will come soon. LAN will forward any news from Patrick via its mailing list. Patrick reminded everyone that if you have an exhibition or event that you would like to be listed on Art in Liverpool website then please send him the full details to – patrick@artinliverpool.com. It is best not to assume the hosting venue has done this already as it is not already the case.
Public artworks tidy-up – John Elcock mentioned that he is interested in getting a group together to tidy up some of Liverpool’s public artworks that are looking a bit worse for wear. This would just be a bit of TLC, mainly removing weeds and debris from around the area to freshen up the presentation of the artworks. If anyone is interested in helping they can get in touch john[at]johnelcock.co.uk
